Adolescent and youth of Bangladesh can play a vital role in removing the barriers towards establishment of women's sexual and reproductive health rights.

Dr Halida Hanum Akhter, Director General of Family Planning Association of Bangladesh (FPAB), said this at the concluding session of its workshop.

The concluding session of the workshop on 'awareness building in HIV/AIDS and gender issue through puppetry, muffetry and photography' was held at National Press Club in the city yesterday.

Meher Afroz Chumki, former MP and Treasurer of the FPAB, chaired, while Dr Jahir Uddin Ahmed, Additional Director General of the FPAB, was present as special guest.

Dr Halida Hanum said, reproductive health rights of women in the country have long been ignored, which has resulted in high rate of maternal and infant mortality. The FPAB has been working with a concerted strategic plan to address these issues.

Twenty-six young participants attended the workshop that was held at Multipurpose Training Centre of the FPAB at Panchdona in Narsingdi.
